I think they would try to separate because the USA has too many enemies. They know that Hawaii is probably the easy target!

I know Hawaii is literally "seperated" from the United States, but I never heard anything about Hawaii trying to seperate from the United States politically.

I haven't heard that rumor, but perhaps it's because they never wanted to be a part of the United States in the first place. Most Americans don't know this, but the USA annexed Hawaii against the will of the people and their ruler, Queen Lili'uokalani. Hawaii was a sovreign nation until the US came in and made it their own.

It's true...
Many Hawaiians want their country back. It wasn't that long ago that the land was taken from them. The royal family are still involved in Hawaii politics. The issue of how the islands were taken by force to benefit a few rich Americans is still very clear in the memory of the Hawaiian people.
I don't believe it will never happen, but the issue will never go away.

Because what happend, well some Hawaiians... well we think that the united states, all they did was take our land over! There is hardly any more land! At all! Just like on Oahu, there use to be so many sugar can fields and now... they are replaced by houses and buisness buildings! They do have a point that another country will try to take it over like Korea.... But I think that personaly the u.s. needs to stop trying to make it a tourist attraction!!!! Its a way of life, not DISNEYLAND!!!!
POWER TO THE HAWAIIANS!!!!!!
HAWAIIAN PRIDE!!!!
KU'E!!!

I have lived in Hawaii for nearly 20 years.
There has been an ongoing movement by the native Hawaiians since I have lived here to regain their land, their rights, and their heritage. Your question makes this sound like Hawaii desires to be its own nation, and that this movement is violent in nature.

Oh, well... it's because we basically stole their land, that's why.
I don't seriously think they *really* want to leave the US, but it would be nice if we could bend some of our discrimination laws so that they can have publically-funded Hawaiian-only schools. I mean... is that such a tragedy to give up to a people we've screwed over?
Same thing for native Americans too.

I think the history of how they came to be annexed in the first place has only just become widely known. Maybe, they are just letting of steam in the short term.
