there are lots of websites and books about antiques. it all depends upon what sort of antique and what the time period is as to where to find the information. it takes quite a bit of research and knowledge to be able to tell if something is an antique. this is due to the many good copies and imitations out there. it takes a trained eye to be able to tell for sure. i suggest just taking the object to a dealer who is trained. it will save you a lot of time and headaches.
