N Korea apparently doesn't care about its people anyway. Bush's short speech meant nothing. The so-called 'international' community is just going along with a perceived "anger"
I don't think other than the US and S Korea that any of them give a darn. China already knows that the US would never chance a strike against N Korea anyway.
We need to get real. Most other countries want nukes,
and they will get them.

The United States circulated a draft U.N. resolution late Monday that would condemn North Korea's nuclear test and impose tough sanctions on the reclusive communist nation for Pyongyang's "flagrant disregard" of the Security Council's appeal not to detonate a device.

The draft, obtained by The Associated Press, incorporates proposals circulated by the U.S. earlier in the day to prohibit all trade in military and luxury goods and prevent "any abuses of the international financial system" that could contribute to the transfer or development of banned weapons.

So?

Sanctions is another way of doing nothing...we have had sanctions in place against North Korea for many years....so our next sanction is to stop air...the only difference is in the amount of food and supplies sent from China is reduced. Fools want to escalate the situation into a war, but if they think about the ripple effect, they might change their minds. The best thing for the US to do is NOTHING...let China manage the problem instead of using heavy-handed tactics of the US. If we do anything, then China is drawn into the foray because of a mutual protection treaty...against any foe...and Russia too as they have a mutual defense treaty with both China and North Korea. Taiwan would rally to the Americans because of the spat between China and Taiwan, Vietnam has a treaty with China and Thailand has a treaty with the US, but Malaysia and Indonesia are anti-American Imperialism, and we already know about the Middle East, Kosovo, a large chunk of Africa, Venezuela, Cuba et al.....want to star the War to End All Wars....let China do it right!

So, I guess they think that Il wants to sell his device. Well, I'm sure there are a few buyers waiting in the wings . The US will try to propose a naval blockade of some sort , similar in nature to the Cuban thing. But, that is chancy because Il is psychotic. Sanctions on his country aren't going to work because his people don't have anything anyway. There are already sanctions. He will be comfortable for a long time to come. I'm sure he has a personal stockpile. Even Bush is not going to fall for his strong arm tactics and jeopardize the stability of the world's economy, not to mention safety. Giving him a bomb is not an option but I don't know what is.

The U.N. is weak. Look at how many nations scoff at its resolutions. That is why the U.S. reserves the right to pop open a can of whoopass from time to time. Anyway, here are some thoughts.

1) It will show N. Korea the attention it desires. They want prestige. Kim Jong-il can't get enough attention, so here comes the world community to stroke his ego. I liken this to scatching/rubbing a dog's belly and making his leg shake. Yeah, everybody knows this dog **** on the carpet, but if we don't rub his belly now, he'll run over to the next yard and bite our neighbor's leg.

2) North Korea is probably going to get more food out of this. They sure have a lot of starving people over there. This is certainly a round about way of procuring some vittles. Let's send them some twinkies on the house, because it's too late now to open up a can of gourmet American whoopass!

Sanctions? They already have nothing, they are starving, they don't trade with anyone but China and even that is limited. Sanctions won't do a thing. Unless China feels threatened, we won't have many options open to us except take them out.

Well now.....for someone who literally lets his people starve to death in the streets. I think we are talking about an "imperialist"
minded person. Like they say," You can't argue with a CRAZY
MAN!!" And that he IS. Why doesn't someone just knock him
off ??? The United States, is being pulled into to many directions
To many problems in this world. We have allies, and we have
enemies. Revelations is very clear, as to what is going to happen
we just don't know when. But we all need to pray for our soldiers
so they can all come home!! Nuff said.

So nothing. They will go on to have nukes, and possibly use them. Whats new? Always some crackpot dictator out there.

The US can talk all it wants, but something should be done. However, unlike the war in Iraq, we would need to have the backing of the entire world on this one. Our guys have done enough on their own, and in this case, there really IS a reason for it.

Sanctions and talk do nothing except show weakness. A good old fashioned carpet bombing of Pyongyang would be a good start to show we mean business.

Sanctions provide lip service until we start dropping bombs.
