I live here in Alaska. We are a part of the USA. Folks get subsidies just like folks get in the lower 48; farms, fisheries, other jobs, etc. Actually, prices up here are just a bit higher than in California. Yes, we do get a yearly oil refund (look up Alaska PFD) once a year that averages to about $1000. Our reduced population makes it a wonderful place to live. We have great government representation as it is.
