...It seems as if they spend entire chapters describing the feasts, and they sound so delicious! Has anyone ever tried making some of the things mentioned in the books?

Yes, yes, yes. The cheeses alone make my mouth water! And the deserts and drinks sound awesome. I actually found a cheese that has leeks and morels in it, at Miijer, and when I brought it home, my sister was totally thrilled. We call it the "Redwall Cheese" because it seems like something they would have. I really want to find a straberry fizzy drink that isn't an artificially flavored soda, and then I'll try to make a taters'n'onions'n'whateverelsetheyputinthere'deeper'n'everpie.

I've never tried to make them, but I understand the hungry feeling. I'd end up acting like the one of the dibbuns, stealing the pies and everything.

Some of the things mentioned in the story sounded good, but did not make me hungry.
