yup i totally understand what you mean. You're probably afraid of what he might be thinking about you as he watches you eat.
It's only natural that you feel that way cos no one likes being judged.
Don't worry too much about it, try building up you're relationship by spending more time with him and then you'll start to feel more comfortable with him around.

Yes it can be a depressing time. When you are eating in front of your boyfriend, you are most likely feeling judged. Does he think I am eating to much, does he think I am fat? These are all questions that can come to mind when he is sitting across from you. If you do not like YOU then it makes it hard to share something like eating. My guess would be if you do not feel comfortable to eat in front of you boyfriend then why are you with him, most-likely there are other things you don't do or like in front of him either. Find someone that will love you for you, food and all

Does this bf get control freak over other things?
My ex-husband used to watch me eat (I have carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis in my hands) and make ugly comments.
What I suggest you do is, lay down your knife and fork, or spoon, and ask him, "What?"
It may start a converstion.
