Well, you did the first right thing by talking to the D.A. What did they tell you? They should have sent you down to the child support office in the court house. There is a special dept for child support. You need to go and talk to them. They will give you a 1-800 number, and your "case-worker." That is the person you need to talk to.
Then you are going to need to contact your lawyer, and have them file a petition to amend the child support. Your lawyer will tell you what I am going to tell you. They will need proof that you are disabled. Also have you filed for disablity? You are going to have to pay something, most likely the state minumum.
Get to your lawyer and get back to court with your proof ASAP.
But no, most likely they aren't going to put you in jail. You usually have to be severely deliquent in your payments for such darastic measures to be taken. And usually the mother will have to push it hard. By calling a child support enforcement agency, like dead beat dads ect......
You'll be alright! Just do what I told you. But go through the proper channels, and do it quick before you miss too many payments

If you are disabled... Why aren't you receiving disability? Most states have a minimum child support obligation of $50.00 per week. Why would you take it to the District Attorney?? It normally goes before a Prosecuting attorney. He/she will make the call on whether or not to prosecute. They would base their case on how far behind in support you are, whether or not you were in arrears prior to being disabled, and the length of the disability a settlement for your disability will also play a part into whether or not they prosecute. In short yes then can prosecute. However, each situation is different.

Contact the child support agency and tell them you have had a change in income due to disability and that your contribution to your child's care needs to be adjusted to reflect that change. Write this in a letter and send it to them as well, sign and date it, and keep a copy of it for yourself. Good luck to you.

if you are truly disabled, you will be receiving a disability check and your child will be receiving a check as a part of your social security. unless you're faking i don't think they can lock you up. you might better get to the social security office as soon as possible or you will be locked up.
