My friend is a huge Mets fan and I'm a huge Yankees fan. Of course he's having a ball teasing about the Yankees already being out of playoffs. As a gag type thing, I'm making a flag for my outdoor flap pole that has the Yankee logo and something along the lines of saying, 'Can't win them all.' Then I'd really like to write something in terms of anti-Mets, but not sure what to put considering they obviously have made it past the Yankee's point. Any suggestions?

Sorry, flap pole is supposed to read flag pole.

My hubby is a MET fan. What a horrible week.

How about something referring to Willie Randolf- the fact that it took a Yankee to make the Mets a winning team. Also this millennium seems to be the one for losers to get their win. White sox, Red sox and their once in a lifetime World Series Championships

True... but then again, the Mets have NEVER lost a divisional series... the yankees have lost what, 3 of their last 5 including the last 2? And the Mets have NEVER lost to a wild card team in the playoffs... The yankees have lost how many times to Wild Card Teams? And the though the last time the mets season ended later than the Yankees was 18 years ago, they have never had an 200 million dollar All-Star lineup and failed to get out of the first round. And... in 2 weeks or so, the Mets will have won more World Series titles this century than the Yankees... And for good measure, this Millenium.

But seriously, the yankees problem is they have ALL all-stars and no sense of TEAM. No one wants to - or is asked - to bunt or sacrifice because that same guy COULD hit a home run... The yankees can be a great team again - they just need to stop trying buy EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. Yes, the mets ARE buying a few players themselves, but they're developing some great home grown talent too. I'm holding my breath on Milledge, Pelfrey, and Humber, but Reyes had more hits and RBI than A-ROD in the Divisional series.... But when you got guys that KNOW their role and HAVE a role and where no one is going to criticize the manager for having them bunt (who wants a guy being paid 12 million a year to bunt! But a guy being paid 500,000-2,000,000, no one cares. Melky was a good guy to be playing... he could get away with bunting... but you really want A-ROD or Jeter bunting? No, you feel they have a better chance to get a hit - and maybe you're right, but then the manufactured runs goes down.

As a met fan, I've got mixed feelings... I wanted to see the yankees make it for a subway series... but if they weren't I'm exceedingly pleased they were beaten as they were by the Tigers - the team that lost 3 straight to finish the season to the lowly Royals and got stuck playing as the Wild Card team.

By the way, someone might want to tell el Capitan that he needs to put his feelings about A-ROD aside - he needs to be a leader and help anyone and everyone to do their best (that should be the goal of every member of the team, but especially the captain).

And why do I think the Mets are going to win the World Series? Well, sit back and look at it logically, the team with the best pitching was Minnesota - they're out of it. The team with (in theory) the best hitting was the Yankees. So what are you left with? The Tigers and the A's in the AL and St. Louis in the NL. While ANYTHING could happen in a 7 game series (Remember the ALCS in 2004?), the odds are with the Mets making it to the World Series... and then I think they stack up well against either AL team - Could they be beaten... sure... ANYTHING can happen in a 7 game series... but as a Fan who believes in my team and believes in the power of Team Chemistry - and that the Mets - when it counted AT ALL only lost more than 2 in a row ONCE - I think they'll win both series... NLCS in 6, WS in 7.

for the Yankees: "Can't win 'em all"
for the Mets: "Can't win AT ALL !"
Of course this year it isn't true,
but you're just trying to dog the Mets,
so it should be kind of funny to write that or something close.

Bury all the Mets in the desert up to their necks with their heads exposed near an ant colony. Pour molasses over their heads to attract the ants................................ bye-bye Mets
