"Many sensible but bewildered people do not see much difference between Iran supporting and arming Hizbullah in Lebanon and the United States supporting and arming the Fateh security forces in Palestine, as both recipient groups are engaged in militant political activity and deep contests over the identity of their societies".

Attempts" by the United States and others in the region are a sign of the inability or unwillingness to do much more than that. Not only have they largely failed to address the issues that matter to the people -- sovereignty, security, economic well-being, a sense of dignity in day-to-day life -- but they have also managed to spread the consequences of their collective incompetence to cover most of this region".
Playing games with other societies and other lands has consequences for all players. The US now realizes (many of its citizens at any rate) that the World is a village. Better to look towards a longer term solution better for both, dont you think?

Thank you missourim43. You got a lot of points and you have a good percentage of best answers. But you dont try to answer the question can you see the difference? Simply saying it is b/s cos you dont like the criticism embedded in the question should provoke you to find a GOOD answer. No its not Aljazeera it was Arab News Sun, 08 Oct 2006 5:33 PM PDT

Thank you dingdong. Yes it is heart breaking. We all know there have been mistakes on both side Arab and Israeli but Israelis have used the Gaza` strip as you say like a prison, absolutely no human rights, no future, massive despair and poverty, limited water, blocking of harvests at borders so it will rot, complete destruction of families and homes, and all with the support of the US. Hamas was elected following US push to democratise (and Palestine needed a push) but inevitably the people elected their defenders. Now the US wants to arm the opposition. If that isn't completely callous to hope that the two factions will kill each other!!. Hasn't the US seen yet that this approach doesnt work , it simply creates more poverty and fanaticism. The way forward is support. When families have food and expectations for their families, they will strive to improve because life is precious. But now life for many is meaningless. People living in poverty and being used as pawns in a game.........

Ha ha ha ha ha.
There is no "justice" for Palestine. There CAN'T be. If, by some miraculous vision of comraderie and love, the whole least coast of the mediterranean decided to join hands and sing songs, it would mean that 2000 years of religious marketing and competition-mongering would go down the tubes around the WORLD! Can't you SEE that? It isn't about any people, it isn't about any particular religion. IT's all about money and hate, money and hate. If there isn't a Hezbollah to finance, then there wouldn't be arms dealers, brokers, and bribes for politicians to keep quiet/lie/get free stuff. If there wasn't any Fateh to finance, then there wouldn't be any reason to keep the opium trade, the cocaine deliveries, the illegal donations, the political blackmail, or the fake news media selling cars in advertisements.

DON'T YOU SEE? It HAS to be this way so that the economy can keep going.
Palestine is just a factory which produces fear and loathing instead of plastic toy guns. As long as there is somebody willing to accept the money, then there will be someone to pay it and create a "Return On Investment".
