I have a video file that i want to write to cd using my very regular cd-writer. However, the video takes one single MB extra than the cd's volume... Is there any recommended way to overcome this problem?
Btw i did come across the "overburn" option in nero, however it's filled with warnings about harming the cd and the cd-rw.. plus i don't need any more than 1mb extra.
So, what should i do about it?

Two options - buy larger CDs (they DO exist)

Overburn - 1 extra MB SHOULD not hurt you.

I am guessing this a movie you downloaded off the internet, but we'll not get into that ;). Anyway, you'll only be able to fit 800+ MB of data on a normal 700 CD-RW if you burn the video/file ::cough:: as a VCD or MPEG-1. This is because when a burning program burns VCDs, it doesn't need the extra 100 MB for data error checking and sort. It's all kinda confusing but the basics are

MPEG = 800MB+ (Reduced Quality)
Data/Not MPEG Video = 700.

As suggested, you could always try compressing the file. I'd try 7-Zip.

Set Nero to overburn and everything will be all right. Since it is a video file you can truncate a bit of the beginning or the end of the movie with VirtualDub. The movie will be a couple of megs less and you will actually decide where you want to cut the video file; like the scripts at the end of advertisement at the beginning. It is a very easy to use free program.

first.. You will only be able to put about 600 MB of stuff on a 700 MB Cd because with windows the CD needs the extra space to format. Boo hoo. Sounds like you need to upgrade to a DVD writer then you can put at much as 4 gig on a Disk.

Get the biggie CDs, and check out in Google . com search, that your burner can do the task, or, shrink the movie by cutting some credits, or a small bit of movie...

You can't. Either get a bigger CD or trim the video. 1MB of content is not a lot to miss.
