To dream you are flying can symbolize several things. It really depends on how your dream plays out..such as if you are running from someone or something then start to fly, or if you try to fly and can't..if you don't land..so on and so forth.
Anyway in general it typically symbolizes freedom, maybe overcoming or breaking away from a certain situation. Start paying attention to your surroundings more in you're dream. You'll have a better dream interp. that way. Since you are aware you're flying meaning your also aware that your dreaming, this is called lucid dreaming, where you are in control.

Yes, strange you should ask because I haven't thought about it for a while.

My story. When I was very young I would have these wonderful adventures at night while I slept.

I would start running but the faster I got the heaver my left leg would get. So in order to overcome that problem I would lift myself up. Once I was off the ground I could go places.

I) I would fly over the sea & go to a road. I would fly along the road until I got to a bridge which had been swept away by a flood. I'd fly across the bridge on a makeshift road to the other bank of the river. wnere I would land. Then I would walk to a beautiful beach where there were turtles nesting & a big sign saying turtle hatchery.

Now the scary bit. I went to Malaysia with the Army in 67/69. We went on an excercise. I went to sleep in the back of the truck for a few hours & woke up when we stopped for the night. I said to the driver why are we stopping here? there is a beach up ahead on the other side of the river. I described the beach. I don't know what made me say that as I hadn't seen the map. We went to the beach & it was the turtle beach I had seen in my dream. The bridge had only been washed away two years before and the turtle hatchery had only just be declaired.

2) Same deal getting off the ground. I would fly down a road getting faster & faster. The Telephone poles were a blur as was the white line on the road. Suddenly there was a Junk yard & I would fly through the gate, past a gate house follow the junk around in a U shape & end up in the junk.

While I was visiting London I had to go way out onto the outskirts of the city to pick up a computer programme by train. I caught a taxi back. On the way back we were travelling very fast & went over a bridge I looked down & there was the junk yard.

3) Same deal getting off the ground. I would fly over the ocean and end up flying around these terrific islands. They were like tall green spires with shear cliff faces & native fishermen fishing. It was one of my favourite places to go.

Then I went to Phuket. And there they were.

4) Same deal. I would land in the jungle & walk down a bush track. I would get to an intersection & there was a cliff face with big holes in the side of the cliff. These holes were all interconnected. There was a tiger stalking backwards & forwards through the tunnels, looking out through the holes every now & again. It didn't hurt me but I was afraid.

Then I went to VietNam in 65/66. I did an Operation to Ho Bo Woods (You call it Chu Chi). That where the VC Headquarters for the Saigon Area was. 27 miles of tunnels full of Viet Cong & Regulars. The track was there & so was the cliff face. Although it was the deep bank of a river but it was full of firing slits (holes). We lost a few boys that day. But I knew I would be OK. I was still scared.

So there you go. Yes, I have flown. I was only about 5 or 6 years old. But it all came true.

I used to have a reacurring dream every night when I was 5 just like yours. I would start from the ground in my bedroom and fly straight up to the sky and then come falling down with major butterflies in my stomach. I don't know what this means, but it was strange.

I have NO knowledge of dream interpretation, but I have had a number of flying dreams since I was little...

Flying like superman... just look up and zoooom !

Flying like swimming... I always run out of energy near end of dream !

Flying as an out of body experience... zipping around the neighborhood !

I have and I loved it everytime. I also remember floating. Everytime I would come back to the ground, and I would spend a lot of time concentrating on getting back up.
Those are the greatest dreams. I wish I had more.

Have no idea of what a dream like that means, but i do tend to spend an awful lot of time falling off buildings in mine. So if you can figure out why you fly, see if you can figure out why I can't.

the meaning behind of dreaming of flying-flying can mean you are fleeing from some thing, but it can indicate independence and the ability to deal with emotions.Occasionally it points to having lost a practical grasp on what is happening around you.Flying suggests the desire to break free and can symbolise potential or future.
We seldom dream of flying with another person, but when you do it suggests you feel sexually attracted to them or closely connected.Because flying expresses feelings of confidence,if you are frightened of falling,it shows you are still learning to feel confident about independence and taking your own direction in one area of your life.
Many people learn to fly in a step-by-step way.If this is what you are doing, then you are making progress toward greater assurance and decisiveness.I hope i was of some help to you.

Yeah, in my twenties, but it wasn't fun. I was flying because I was holding onto a small helium balloon, was grabbing its string and it all felt so precarious that it was more of a nightmare than anything.
My interpretation is that I needed to be more "grounded" in waking life.

I have dreamed that multiple times, mostly daydreaming. Like I am a raven, an eagle...I think it means happiness and freedom, depending on how you fly. Feeling rushed means insecurity.
