It's totally stupid. What gives them the right to take away the status? It has been taught like that for a long time. Not to mention it's in all the textbooks, now it will cost a ton of money to reprint them without Pluto being a planet. It's totally stupid!

It is not weird at all. The previous definition of a planet is a large body that orbits the sun. There are moons of Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus bigger than Pluto. If Pluto stays a planet, many new planets would be added.

It is kinda weird, but don't have all the reasons for it yet, just like we never really get to hear the candidates real views, and even if we did we're not allowed to vote, only the electoral college can vote, not us. What about cancelling St. Christopher? Does that mean someday we can cancel the Pope? Santa Clause?

de-moting pluto is not wierd at all considering that the proper definition of a planet is "anything that orbits the sun ON IT'S OWN PATH, not crossing into another planets orbital path as pluto does with Jupiter (i believe), and also has to be a certain mass" (not sure what that mass is)
