If you are having acid reflux on a regular basis I would go to the MD to find out how much damage has been done and a possible cause. There is OTC prilosec which I have heard really good things about, my fiance loves it. Also, if you smoke, if you quit, it wont happen as often. Acid reflux causes damage to your esophagus and there are other complications, so get checked out!

Many of them are. In fact most of the OTC acid reflux meds were prescription only a number of years ago. Famotidine is fairly inexpensive as is cimetidine, and both are effective and available in more than one dosage. They are certainly worth a try.

My son has reflux and the Dr first put him on prevacid..he took it for a couple months but then changed to OTC prilocec and it works just fine as well. The prevacid was very expensive and the OTC is alot more affordable...maybe that is what helped his reflux...saving money?

I tried the OTC drug called Zantac. It only helped a tiny bit. I got a prescription for AcipHex, and I have not had problems since I started taking it a month ago.

if you but ones such as priloec, pepcid, and take them as directed regularly, just because it will get better you can't quit taking them, i find pepcid to work best when taken on a regular schedule daily
