Just add or subtract the number of p and the number of r that are in the expression. The only thing that keeps it from being very simple is that you have to watch what happens when you subtract a term with a minus sign.
Working on p first there is 5p from the first parenthesis and -p from the second. When you add them you have (6-1)x p so there is 4p left.
Working on r next there is -6r from the first parenthesis and - (-r) from the second. When you add them you have (-6--1)x r so that becomes (-6+1)x r which is -5r
You end up with 4p-5r

open the parenthasis
(5p-6r) - (p+r) = 5p-6r-p-r when you open a() that has a - sign
, terms inside change the signs too.
=5p-p -6r-r
=4p-7r answer.
When you poen the () , you multiply each term inside the() with the number and the sign outside the (),
In this case both () had 1 outside it. the first() had + sign and second() had -1 outside it.

(5p-6r)-(p+r)
basically, the -sign gets distributed (multiplicatively) over the addition in (p+r) so we get: -(p+r)= -p-r
so the problem becomes:
=(5p-6r)-p-r now lose the brackets:
=5p-6r-p-r take the p's and r's together:
=p(5-1) +r(-6-1)
=4p-7r.
I hope i haven't made it more complicated in the attempt to explain.

hi. first distribute the -1.
(5p - 6r) + (-1)*(p + r) = (5p-6r)-p-r = 5p-6r-p-r = 4p-7r
