hello,
i am in my late 20's and i simply do not like the taste of any kind of drink with alchohol. even when i go out on dates or something, my date always has to order by the glass because i will only have a coke or a club soda with lemon.

is this strange???

i always get jealous when i see girls drinking these very pretty drinks like cosmopolitans and martinis. and when i try a sip, i wanna spit it out!!!!

and i love the look and idea of bloody mary's. but i can only have the virgin marys........

i wish i knew how to enjoy the flavors of alchohol but i just cant.

my mom and dad know how to drink, but me and my siblings just do not drink at all.

whats up with that??????????????????

Don't be silly. you don't have to like alcohol. why would that really matter to anyone else what you personal preference is??? You are an adult make your own choices and be proud of them!! It is probably in your best interest to stay away from that crap anyway!!

Dont let it bother you, your better off without it. You dont need it to have a good time. Dont let anyone make you do something you dont want. You`ll find a lot more fun in life without it. I was 12 when I started to drink. I played in a band and got served. I thought that was cool, 12 years old make money on the weekends playing music and drinking. I did that for years. It was only by the grace of God I did not become an alcoholic. Now I dont even want it. I was very lucky not to have had a accident while driving , or getting a DUI over the years. So dont be upset that you dont like to drink. Its no big deal anyway. Your a better person without it.

My wife went into alcohol treatment after 10 years of addiction. It nearly broke up our marriage. It took her nearly a month in the treatment centre, & she is still going to weekly meetings after a year of sobriety.
Honestly Honey, you aren't missing all that much. They make those drinks look so tasty in the bars so that people will buy them, that's what the bar business is all about.
Now with the "No Drink & Drive" movement well under way, a lot of bars are creating cocktails for the "Designated Driver"

Also check out this site http://www.drinksmixer.com/cat/8/
for recipes of non-alcoholic drinks.

There is no shame in not liking alcohol, so stop wishing that you do. I think it's a difference that set's you apart from the crowd, & it's a difference that you can be proud of. So I hope you don't end up going out of your way to develop a taste for it. Especially if it's for the wrong reasons, like "Because everyone else is doing it" or something.

Simple.... Alcohol has no taste. It is derived from different things to get a flavor. If you want to drink (not necessary) then first find out what you like. Here are some tips. What do you like?
Sweet? Sour? Tart? Hot? Bitter?
Sweet drinks are easy.. Schnapps, Liquors, and some rums can be sweet.
Sour, tart and bitter are mixers.. but best with vodka.
Cranberry juice is a great mixer it cancels out the BOOZE taste.
I would recommend low alcohol content for all your drinks.
If you must drink then choose one that is NOT SO BAD and drink it till its ok or good then move up.
Good luck. My advice don't drink and find a man that appreciates that part of you.
I'm always looking for a DD LOL

First, why would you be jealous of girls drinking alcohol? Half the time they get so drunk, they end up going home with some freak for a one night stand. Don't try to be one of them, you are you!
Secondly, if you really want to drink, then you actually need to drink. I used to hate the taste of beer but I kept drinking it at parties and now I love beer. By continuously drinking it, it will become an aquired tast. Third, you don't need to drink. Its not a big deal if you do or if you dont.

are you aiming for the effects of alcohol or just drinking because everyone else is? if the former, try grain alcohol because it's stronger but virtually impossible to taste... like everclear, drink of choice. it can sneak up on you though, so definitely be careful. another option is alternative forms: ever try jello shots? and fruity drinks like cranberry vodka are hard to detect too. it's highly effective without having to sip a drink you don't enjoy all night. you can take a shot of sweet goodness and then move on with your virgin mary! if you're wanting to drink just to do it, then it might just not be your thing, and isn't it better partying while doing something that doesn't make you gag??

Nothing is wrong with you. Some people just don't like to drink. I drink very little. I found a couple of drinks that you cannot taste the alcochol in them, one is malibu and pinapple. If you can drink them, you can try, if you want. Otherwise, it's not a big deal. Have a non alcoholic drink. Non alcoholic daquiri's and margaritas look the same anyways.

Drinking ALCOHOL isn't that big a deal. Virgin strawberry daiquiri's are pretty good. Try those. Some people just can't tolerate alcoholic beverage's. It's doesn't mean you're strange. Everyone is different. Be thankful you don't like them. Half my family are alcoholics and will probably die of carouses of the liver. Don't let this bother you.

I know how you feel, I am 22 and don't drink a single drop simply becaue I can't keep it down. When I was 19 I drank like a pro, but now I can't even stand the smell. I think some people are just better than alcohol (like you & me). don't worry, we're better off without the liver failure and memory loss. There are other mind altering things that are all natural, healthier, and alot more fun! ;)

Consider yourself lucky. Alcohol is a depressant, eventually it will lower your seretoin levels. Drinking only leads to trouble. I don't think there is anyone who can honestly say " My life has gotten better since I started drinking" or " Things went well because I got drunk". Think of all the people in AA, the ones in trouble because of DUI's, the ones who drink and then get into drunken arguements, spend too much on booze....
yeah, consider yourself lucky.

OK boo, maybe its not meant for you to drink. Thank God. Hey just think you may get addicted to the stuff or something. Try telling the bartender to lighten up on the alcohol and go heavy on the fruit flavors. That's what I do. Wine Coolers are great. Try them slushy.
