I hope NEVER!

The British Pound is a very strong currency and it always has been, especially since the Euro was introduced. The reason is becuase countries with a rubbish economy (e.g. Poland) thrive now because countries with a bigger economy (e.g. France) pay for them and make thier economy better while making their own economy rubbish in comparison.

I think Europe is a bit of a joke anyway - and so do most people in UK. That is why there are catagories in the Travel section of this website that relate to "Europe" and another catagory that relates only to "United Kingdom". We are seperate from Europe and want to stay that way - if you get rid of the pund you might as well get rid of the flag etc. etc.

I can't see it ever happening unless conversion to the euro becomes a condition of continued membership of the EU.

If the Scots ever achieve independence, it's more likely that they will convert to the euro, but the English are likely to retain their insular attitude for the foreseeable future.

Its not that us English people are stuck in our ways and don't want to change. i want change but only if it's for the better! Why would we want to give up our pound when it is one of the worlds strongest currencies at the moment and changing to Euros would bring our economy down. If the strength of he euro went up and it stabilised a bit more the i would welcome it.
