It's interesting that I saw this question today! I saw Dr. Oz (the guy that answers all the medical questions) on Oprah today. His professional opinion is that colonic washings aren't necessary if you have a proper diet including enough fiber, protein, water and exercise regularly. Just one medical professionals opinion...to each his own.

There is no need for colon cleansing unless you have to go for a colonoscopy or another test that requires colon cleansing.

All the other uses are bogus. Waste of time and money.

It's safe to do before getting your yearly colon exam, but in the sense that cleansing the colon will solve all your ailments (the current infomercial craze), it's a complete waste of time.

You really don't need to do that often, but it helps you clean up any thing that you have backed up in your system. I had to have a couple of colonoscopies done, so I am clean as a whistlte.

As for how often, you really don't need to do it that often, I would say between 5-10 years should be good.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

Unless you haven't had a proper bowel movement in a long time, it is not that safe. The bacteria in you intestines servers a vital purpose and when you cleanse it out, you are leaving yourself open to various infections and illinesses.

I don't know if I disagree with the other anwers. What I mean is, my doctor told me to get it done once a year now as it detects cancer of the colon which my ex had and that is a mess.
