Why is it that Republicans hiss and moan about Social Security, and they even want to do away with it, but when they get old enough to collect the first thing they do is run down to the Social Security Office for their government hand-out?

nocolasra,
The money they invested in Social Security is long gone, thanks to the Republicans filfering ot the tills through the years, thus they are not getting any money that they put into the Social Security pot when they worked.
Those who are being paid today are recieving the money that was taxed today from workers today.

My BS detector just shot to the top of the scale ! It's not a hand out there bozo. Spoken like a true Democrat, a party known for the hand out. The only trouble is, they WANTyou to be dependent on them.
t's my money. I earned it! I could handle it better than the Fed's will ever be able to, and then it would be more protected from the special interest double dippers in government The Government took it without my approval off of the top of my earnings to save it for my retirement, ostensibly because I could not do it better than they could (another Democratic initiative, big government's gotta do it for you, because us little old citizens can't fend for ourselves. Typical Democrat BS). You are damn right when the time comes I'm gonna demand my money back, assuming of course that any of it is left when I get to that place.
If the Dem's spend any time running things it will be gone for sure, and my taxes will have been raised in the process. The Republicans at least wanted to give me a chance to control and invest my own money, which I would prefer. Get your facts straight BEFORE you open your pie hole next time. Again, just like a lefty, accuse, accuse, accuse, and let the truth be hanged. Geez !!!
...and NO, I'm not a Republican either, but I'll call a spade a spade.

Why not?.... Besides the main complaint is not to do away with SS but to change the method of funding. As it is now, the system will crash because there won't be enough people working to support those that are collecting. The collections never have been "invested" anywhere, they are just part of the general fund. It always was a scam in that since. Something will have to be done.... either an increase in taxes collected or a reduction in benefits. The suggestion is to let the taxpayer put something like 3% into a 401k like investment that he would own. Over a working lifetime that would produce far more than it would just in SS.

First of all they paid into the system just like me since I have a job. Do you? Secondly they do not want to do away with the biggest government entitlement, designed for people who could not save for their retirement, they just wanted to try and make adjustments so that it will remain solvent for people in the future. They wanted to give us the opportunity to invest part of our money in private accounts that give a better rate of return on our investment than the 1% we get with socialist security. I assume that you are not going to collect yours when your time comes. I know liberals have such huge hearts that they should all refuse to take their retirement when they retire so there will be more for me.
God Bless America and our military!!!

Now you a liar there buddy. The Republicans have never stated they wanted to do away with Social Security. What they said was the wanted to reform SS, so that it would be there for generations to come. The Democrats not wanting their open fund touch made up some lies to scare people into leaving it the status quo. And everybody of all parties run down to social security when they are of age.

What Republican wants to do away with Social Security? They wanted personal accounts, that's not "doing away" with it.

Because they put money into it, so they could collect it.
It's not a hand out, its their money. Do you not know how it works? They take money out of your paycheck, then give you money years later. I would preffer to invest that money myself. Not to give it to a failing system to loose.
Why is it democrats go running for their welfare checks?
