It won't cause her any harm. As long as she swallowed it and didn't choke on it, she'll be fine. I wouldn't keep on doing it, though, choking is a hazard with this type of food at her young age.

I would not do it again. At four months, some babies do not know how to thrust their tongue forward and then push the solid food back.

If she did not choke on it the first time though I would not be too worried.

I still do not feed my twins anything like that. I may try pears or peaches though. They are a bit softer to chew and go down too. But always, always cut up all the food into micro sized pieces.

I hope this helps you.

My son is only approximately 11 months and that i nevertheless have a similar worry as you. I study those boards and human beings are feeding their 7 month olds meat, hen, vegetables, etc. and that i think a sprint in the back of as though i'm conserving my son decrease back on some thing. besides, as of now (he would be 11 months in 2 weeks), the finger meals my son eats often are cheese, puffs, spaghetti, and bananas. He *only approximately* choked on A BANANA! right this is my factor - i don't be concerned approximately this anymore. I only parent i will introduce small issues separately and if gags, i will try back in a week or 2. If he's taking to it, i will placed it on my checklist of issues he does not have complication with. and that i circulate to do this inspite of my sis snickering in the history.

Nooo! Do you want them to choke? That is why they make baby food. Your 4 month old doesn't have teeth and probably can't even hold their head up. Right now, all your baby needs is formula or breast milk. At 6 months, it is recommended to start giving baby/pureed foods. I know you mean well, but you don't want to give anything to your baby that can be a choking hazard or that could upset their digestive system.

It was a mistake and you should not continue just because you were lucky this time. Even a small piece of apple can cause your baby trouble. Cooked apple would be better. When your child can chew, then they can have an apple.

my question is how did you accidently give it to her? really you shouldnt be giving a 4 month old that kind of solids yet, you should wait until the baby is 6 months old before you start giving them solids. but if your baby didnt choke on it, she is okay, i just wouldnt try it again for a few months till she is accustomed to eating solids.

The baby will be fine. But at 4 months they should not even be on solids yet. Be careful what you give.

My doctor said that when starting solid foods cut it up to be the size of the babies pinky nail. And yep, apple is fine.

Doubtful, I'm assuming that the baby didn't choke, but since it doesn't have teeth yet, it can't chew. I would stick to baby food until some teeth have grown in. Hope everything works out for you!

I'd be careful to not feed a baby that young pieces of solid fruit, but just mash it up some and it should be fine. It's how applesauce is made anyways! But don't worry, s/he will be fine. :)
