We don't hear almost nothing about alaska, except political **** about oil over there. What's with the government nowadays, leaving alaska alone to suffer. Plus since when did they ever make it on national headlines. Seriously alaska is really isolated from our country don't you think? even though it is part our 50 states?

Well yes they may be isolated but they do have their own support system. From a political point of view, Puerto Rico is more isolated than Alaska - at least AK knows where it stands - PR just sort of hangs in the balance.

i watch PBS and news and see lots about Alaska esp since global warming their earthquakes tsunamis and volcano's became more of interest.
Do you hear less about it than say Tennessee or Rhode Island?
it is isolated from the rest of the country and not as fun as Hawaii mostly snow and ice and while beautiful its so cold and mostly dark half the year so its not a real news maker.

We hear just as much about Alaska as we do Hawaii. But then again how often does Montana fill the front page.

Because there are less than 700,000 people living in Alaska. That's about 1.1 people per square mile of land.

So there just aren't a lot of people, so there's not a lot of news.

Ther are very few people there comparatively speaking..they depend on the government for help. in a lot of ways. so they don't make a stink.others are an independent people other then the ones that depend on the gov, so those people don't care much but about just survival.
