"Latinos" can be anything. White, Black, Ameri-Indian, Asian, etc. The majority of people from Argentina are of unmixed European descent. The majority of people from Peru are of unmixed Ameri-Indian descent. There are also many countries in "Latin America" with a large black population. Most "latinos" are mestizo [mixed]. In the USA there are many White people who have Native American blood, even if it's just a little bit...and they are still considered White, not mestizo. Who invented ethnic groups anyway? Gosh. Yeah. Just answer my question. Haha. =]

The reason its considered an ethnic group and not a race is because they share a common culture, not necessarily any sort of genetic similarities.

Latino is an ethnic group pretty much only in USA since many S. American countries don't even think on those terms and the countries that do are kinda not loved by the others. For most Americans, it is a convient way to refer to someone who is a S. American foreigner or of that descent without accepting them into their own identity group (black, white, native american, etc.)

Latinos have no choice in the matter so they accept it and act proud, like every other race but one.

Each group of people in a country or within a country have certain traditions how they marry, childbirth, food how they or who they worship. Those people are known for who they are among others.
Their Ethnic group

It the past few years we have put color in the mix of defining people

How dark light or brown you are does not make you a better person and judging by color makes the person lame and not the type of person who is narrow in life.

Instead of wondering why we have Ethnic groups ask your self how you can help take the stigma away

I dont know...maybe its cuz latinos are so cool that they get their own group...lol....jk...no but the only reason I can see to that is that even though they are of many backgrounds, their culture is not the same as that of their European, African, Indian, etc backgrounds.
