I was invited to be in a Holiday Cabaret show as a fund raiser for charity this winter, but I'm not a huge fan of Christmas music. Does anyone have suggestions for holiday appropriate songs that aren't the thing you hear every year? I'm a mezzo-soprano with a pretty high belt. Think Kelly Clarkson or Idina Menzel type stuff...

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer of course

And well, I really can't find any good Christmas songs. It's a shame that such a wonderful holiday has some pretty sucky music.

But you can find a lot of artists that cover Christmas songs. Not just Jessica Simpson. I'm sorry I can't think of any off the top of my head, but there are a lot of artists out there (new and old) who cover songs for Christmas.

"Baby It's Cold Outside" is a wonderful song that not a lot fo people sing for Christmas, but it is a crowd pleaser (you might want to consider singing this a duet, since it was written that way) Or you can always sing "Santa Baby". This is a cute song, and it would be very easy to do this Caberet Style. The again there is always "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause", there's 3 to pick from.

"The weather outside is frightful...but the fire is so delightful"

I really like that song but I dont know what its called. You could also do Hark of the Bells, its very lame but your could try to do an upbeat tempo.

Well good luck. I relly like Idina Menzel and if you could really sing like her you would be good with any song you choose.

"Baby, it's cold outside" is a classy fun song. Jessica Simpson did a version on her 2004 Christmas CD.
"I believe in You" is a song that Sinnead O'connor sings on the
"A Very Special Christmas 2" CD that came out in 1992
