I have NO idea, but I've been able to since the movie Mary Poppins came out in the 60's when I was about 9 or 10.

There's no way to know......but I was thinking about long words the other day and wondered if "antidisestablishmentarism" was still the longest one? Most people of my generation can sing the song and spell the word.....right along with Dick Van Dyke & Julie Andrews.

All I know is that I'm in the percent with people who don't know how to spell it....that's quite a number.
