The best team ever?
on paper, maybe
but not in real life.

This was by no means the best team ever. They won 97 games and that's great, but there have been teams that have won over 110 - the 1998 Yankees come to mind.

Yes, there are a lot of superstars on this team, but there was no chemistry and that's why they lost. In the playoffs, anything can happen - that's why you see all these wild card teams over the past few years winning it all.

Hey, it wasn't the best team ever - that honor goes to the 1927 Yankees. It was just a matter of Detroit's pitching overpowering the Yankees bats. But don't worry, Detroit will fall to Oakland....if that's any consolation. And how many days/weeks will it be before Torre is fired and A-Rod traded? Next year's team will look a lot different than this year's did.

No, it just goes to prove that you can't buy championships. I despise the Yankees because they think they can buy the World Series (Steinbrenner in particular, of course), so I find it fitting that they haven't won since 2000. I hope they don't win another World Series until they actually have more than three farm-grown talents on the team (actually, I never want to see them win again).

What kind of ridiculous question is that? The Tigers shut the Yankee bats completely down after game one. The Yankee pitching has been a major question mark all season. What don't you do alittle research before asking a really dumb question.

actually I like Torre even though I am a Tiger fan.

That's baseball - on paper is one thing but that is why they play the games.
Any team can be hot or cold at times, and you have to be hot to win the World Series.

No. The Yankees did not have the pitching, and the Tigers did.
