You have to admit it, America is not popular around the world. Its South American neighbours hate America, most of Europe hates America, the middle east hate America as well as the Africans, east Asians and Australasians, not to mention Osama Bin Laden and his clique. The only ones left is Antarctica with its penguins, and Tony Blair and the whole of the UK hate him! Should America come over with a big basket of muffins and make nice?

You're wrong. I was talking to a couple of penguins yesterday and they were pretty mad at Americans for being the biggest contributers to pollution, which caused the Ozone hole to open up over them.

Beware of Penguin terrorists.

When the British Empire fell apart (assisted in no small part by US foreign policy, justifying itself on the grounds of 'freeing subject peoples') a vacuum opened. The US has now assumed that responsibility and is learning what it is like to administer an empire when no one thanks you, everyone plots against you and everyone deliberately misrepresents your motives.

On a personal level very few people I know 'hate' the US, we all question certain policies but that is not the same as hating the country. Clinton, Bush or otherwise is not the issue (though I have to say Clinton's conduct towards women was pretty vile and Bush is fiercely loyal to his wife).

I have heard say that Neo-Cons are rogue Democrats (all pushing for a centralising, paternalist agenda with a hefty dose of big money) whereas Republicans who still read Hayek, Mill, Paine, Burke etc don't get a look in. Perhaps there should be a 3rd party...

G W (thick as pig sh1t) Bush thinking he runs the world, getting into idiotic wars, I know some very nice Americans as individuals, its the image the USA gives off as a whole that makes people hate you, I would not want to live in the USA personally but I also think the Tony (a r s e h o l e) Blair and "New" Labour (old Tory's) are seriously screwing up the UK and getting us involved in Iraq on false evidence was really dumb. G W Bush and Tony Blair should be taken to the war crimes court.

If the overall Yank attitude is like Candi's............. go for it!! Stand alone, America........ see how long you last!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

I used to love America.... then i went over and was astounded by the ignorance. We're jealous of your freedoms and liberty? What the hell do you think Europe is like, for Gods sake? Get a passport, go travelling and OPEN YOUR EYES.

Yes, USA is the most hated country.... and the feeling has spread to the UK. We dont want o be in this war and we hate Blair for sucking up to Bush's idotic policies. Blair will go soon... hopefully replaced with a politician more in tune with UK feelings on the matter.
Our boys are dying out there for a war the US started........ and they dont care about that or the UK lives that have been and will be lost.

Wasnt it the UK police that stopped the recent air terrorists......... any thanks? Hell, no!

Big Brother, first of all, no offense but America is a CONTINENT, you mean United States of America. Second, I don't think the US is hated by everybody, if it was, then people wouldn't be looking to enter the country in order to have an opportunity to work. So, don't feel like that... Some hate, but not everyone. And Osama just has some problems with himself. :)

The problem with this is that Anti-Americanism is made possible by ignorance on all sides. Europeans think Americans are all gung-ho neo-cons (not true), Americans think that the world hate them because they are jealous (not true).

I'll do a real answer to this. Speaking as a European I think the answer is Bush. Under Clinton no-one I knew hated America, but after 9/11 the world changed, and people over around the world are not happy with Bush's views/actions. America was right to be angry and go after the offendors, BUT Bush got all gung-ho and scarily tyrannical. Do you remember his famous 'if you're not with us you're against us' speech. Or the we'll go to war with or without the UN's backing....well that hurt America's world view.

Domestically in America there is the rise of neo-cons, that make people outside US annoyed. Especially the power they wield (ie. making Bush pull out of Kyoto). Me personally I think they are damaging America because from what I read they are undermining the personal freedoms of your country. America was built on equality for all people and the oppurtunity for individuals to express themselves. But.....the neo-cons banned gay marriage, clamped down the teaching of Darwinism on schools, threaten and intimidate abortion clinics, use the term 'liberal' as if it's an insult. That is the opposite of personal freedom.

Not only this but they control an awful lot of media outlets (fox news etc.)

In defence of the US there is the 'damned if you do damned if you dont' principle. For example if theres a conflict in the world and America intervene, they'll be accused of being imperial. If they don't they'll be accused of being bystanders. But in summary, America doesn't seem young, free and 'rock and roll' anymore. It used to be James Dean was the face of America, now its Bill O'Reilly

america isnt the most hated country, its just one of them. we who live outside the walled garden unerstand far more about world politics than the average american.

the whole world can see it, but youre all blinkered and censored, and dont know youre a rse from your elbows politically. you accept the govt lie, and you all nip home for some of moms apple pie... waht wonderous blissful ignorance.

we however arent blinkered or ignorant, we can see whats happening, history if full of unleared lessons, and george is doing his best, which is pish poor and what happens when you rig elections and the shee-it hits the fan..youre led by a moron... who thought the presidency was a country club game...and he fancied a bit...now he cant cope, and hes feeding the american public twaddle... and now georgie wants to retaliate against north korea..with what? everyones in either afghanistan or iraq... fighting an unnessecary war, killing innocent friendlies, by gunfire and incompetence... the ignominy of getting shot by your colleague..its unthinkable... and yet every day, lives are lost, for what real purpose... and thats why i dont like george or his pish poor playground politics... you yanks are ok, you just elected an idiot to the post...vote for someone else... for everyones sake.

Osama Bin Laden did not hate USA. He condemned that attack on WTC but it is American and European media whcih hide the truth and did not inform the public. Talibans all time demanded only one thing i.e any proof that OBL was involved in terrorist attack. Bush had no proof so he created on by hiring an actor from Hollywood. and the video was released form "House of White Lies". I do not hate America. I think Americans are the best and the most humble people but I find them too naive and too ill informed. American Government on the other hand is a slave fo the worst terrorists i. Zionists who attacked USS Liberty and twice word trade center but common American perhaps believe in the garbage churnned out day and night by such garbage media as CNN, BBC, TIME, Newsweek, etc,.
Bush is absuing USA army and USA Tax payers money for committing terrorism throughout the world. When you drop uranium bullets and give innocent children a gift of leukemia people will not kiss your hand, when you drop 20,000 pound bombs people will not salute you, when you drop daisey cutter and Napalm people will not fall in love with you and when you restore world's 60 heroin, the parents of the addicts will not like you. It is as simple as that

I think most of us are overzealous stuck-up warmongers. Maybe we're too patriotic, at the cost of considering citizens of other countries as our equals. I know that the image that the media portrays of America is not entirely accurate, but I think we need to consider how we act before we question why the world hates us.
