You need to write out the equation. Substitute:
y for what
100 for percent
x (times) for of
= for is
So, you have: 100y x 4 = 2
Solve for x: 100y = 1/2 = 0.5
y = 50

1 gives to = 2/4

divide 2 by 4: 2/4*.5. since % means parts per 100, .5=50%

Percentages are stated as hundreths.
100 Percent of something is the total something.
If you wish to find 16 percent of something. you muliply that something by .16
To find 50 Percent of something, mulitply by .5
.5 X 100 = 50
.5 X 4 = 2 Therefore 2 is 50 percent of 4. See!!!
