I was given a celtic drum but their child drew on the skin with a blue pen. How can I remove it without damaging the skin too much? I hope to decorate it with some celtic art but the inks all over the place!!

to remove ink from leather (including drum skins) moisten a section of white terry towel with methylated spirits and dab onto the ink stain. let it sit for 30 minutes so it can dissolve the ink. then use a fresh section of terry towel to dab up the stain, use a clean section of terry towel each time you dab so you don't spread the stain. keep at this until it comes off....
THEN, wipe down the drum skin with a solution of 1/4 cup white vinegar per 1 litre of water the wipe down with plain water.
WIPING it down after prevents the skin from getting damaged.

WD-40, it will not harm the drum skin at all. I would not use alcohol, it might damage the skin....WD-40 has some kinda fish oil in it....it`s great for alot of things

Good Luck

Isopropyl alcohol takes out ink but if its an antique or worthy of value..check with an antiques person if you should use alcohol on it.
