No. If you are receiving SSI the state believes that you can buy your groceries out of that SSI money.

Like Ronald (I don't recall) Reagan said when he stepped into office: "Americans need to learn to tighten their belts."

Leogirl0804,

Didn't I see you leaning up against a lightpost on Hollyweird Blvd. the other night?

Some of you are too much. First. How do you even know whether she can work you sillies. SSI is for handicapped people or the disabled. How do you know she isn't required to help him. Sillies. You never know what your own situation is going to be. Never. and you're just there, sitting behind a screen like all of the rest of us. For all we know you could just be sitting there on your behinds not working either. So stop being so judgmental.
An for the questioner, the only way to find out is to apply for them,
Either you qualify or you don't.

and by the way sway.....1300.00 and 1100-.00 equals 2400.00

Probably not, but call your welfare department and see. So many people make too much to get help and not enough to survive. You might qualify for WIC. Go for everything. When my daughter was in first grade I lost my job so she qualified for free lunches at school then I got a job and i didn"t tell them all school year i needed the help I DON"T FEEL GUILTY

Doesnt look like it - looks like for a family of six the Gross Income to qualify is $2904. You are above that.

Check out the depart of welfare webiste, you can use a tool to see if qualify.

You don't mention what State you are in. However, the best thing to do is apply for them. I would believe that $2,400 a month to feed a family of six is a hardship where ever you are.
