I requested a pardon acouple years ago from North Carolina, to which it was turned down without any explanation of why. It was appox 18 years, 2 wives, and 3 children ago. I have completely turned my life around, and have been a private investigator with my own agency for most of that time. But with the new requirements regarding convited felons, my investigator and agency license will not be renewed, and i may not be able to haul hazmat with my CDL as well. So if the state won't grant me a pardon, is there another avenue i can take to get a pardon?

Well, you can keep trying, the pardon is given by the governor so with each change in administration you have hope...But pardons are usually given for either cronies (or big contributors to their campaign, etc.) or for people that are in fact innocent but are having trouble with the court system and get publicity.

They are exceptionally rare. You can keep trying, but unless there's something special about you, it's not going to happen. Your best bet is to contact your state legislator (assuming you were convicted of a state crime). Someone has to get the governors attention, and make him believe you are more worthy that the other thousand or so people who want a pardon that day.

Wait for another Clinton to get in office, then ask for one right before they leave. They like to hand out pardons. But you will probably have to pay them off once you get out.
