I had a similar question just recently, although from the other direction. Face it, luv - both sides have people who are primarily interested in partisan politics, with reason and fairness thrown to the winds. From my perspective, it's mostly the liberals who do that, but answers from a couple of reasonable liberals convinced me that I wasn't seeing both sides of the picture. One of these days when I have time, I'll do a study of the questions on here to see which side is right. My current suspicion is that it'll turn out to be about 50/50, but I'll reserve judgement until I have something like hard evidence. It's a policy I recommend highly, especially in cases where I find I haven't followed it.

I , a liberal, do not think of that all of them are packed with hate! i definitely like the business conservatism that they used to hold to politics! yet it particularly is all i believe them on. i understand somewhat some those that are economic and socially conservative and as a gay guy the social conservative section bothers me yet none the less it particularly is their attitude and that i don't think of maximum of this is predicated off hate and intolerance. The social section is and consequently i might in no way vote for a socially conservative candidate! So i assume with a view to not hate them you ought to look at them as persons and not lump all of them together as one hate crammed team. I agree that they should kick the evangelicals out of their occasion. faith ought to have no representation in our government on account that all of us do not enroll in their suggestions! stunning now our us of a is in fact reversing what we've been in accordance with. SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE! i think in God and and am somewhat non secular yet stunning now faith is enjoying to important a ingredient in our government and that i'm particular that some Evangelicals have a difficulty with that as properly!

When those opinions are correct, yes. That happens too seldomly, though. I consider myself pretty in-line with Republican doctrine.
Democrats, honestly seem to think that just saying the opposite of the majority opinion makes them smart, as though they see the fault with popular opinion, when most don't. True intellectuals like myself realize that this reactionary opposition isn't any smarter than believing the popular opinion. One needs to make up their mind based on the merit of each idea.

You are comparing the common (maybe moderately) liberal you personally know with the most extreme republicans you see here. That's not a fair comparison. Just as it would not be fair to compare the moderate conservatives I know to the likes of Tom Science & other hateful types here.
I wish moderate liberals would speak out against the radical, hateful liberals & the moderate conservatives would speak out against the radical, hateful conservatives.
(I'm kind of a conservative libertarian)

You hit the nail on the head.
There's a posse of knee jerk wackos who couldn't put together a coherent argument if their assault rifle depended on it.
Don't assume all Republicans are this way, though, I've had many reasoned, thoughtful responses from conservatives regarding issues we disagree about...

It's not that they don't VALUE them, it's that they can't deal with them. It's like with a schizophrenic, DON"T QUESTION the fantasy unless you want to make them mad and violent.

They all live in a box called fantasy land, they can't comprehend anything that contradicts that box. Ever see the movie "Pleasant ville"?
