I have found soaking ornaments in a diluted solution of vinegar and water to be highly effective. The acids in the vinegar quickly break down any fecal matter and growths that are beginning on the ornaments and yet the solution is safe for your pets should they ornaments not be rinsed thoroughly. Additionally, vinegar is inexpensive and can be purchased at any grocery store.

you can use highly diluted bleach....like for one gallon only about 1/2 a capful. Let them set for about 12 hours...then rinse them off really, really well. Dry for about 4 hours and then you should be all set. Goodluck!
