YOU have got to be kidding right!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you dont even know how old the United States is, I just wonder what they are teaching in schools these days. Good grief.

The original 13 colonies in 1776 declared their independence from England, which led to the American Revolutionary War. The U.S. constitution was ratified I believe in 1789.

So, it depends upon your point of view - most teachers would say that we were a country from 1776 onward.
