What I think would work really well for this is a two part polyester paint. It comes in two cans which you mix and cures by a chemical reaction. The surface is very hard and should last many years. You do have to make sure the concrete is cleaned and prepared according to the directions. This is the material with which they paint factory floors. So I think it will do the job in your shower.

well apoxy may not be a good sealant. a high grade concrete sealer would waterproof the shower better. even though you will have to put 2-3 coats on every few years.
