You need to use the distributive property and multiply everything out, then combine. (Just like the last one I showed you how to do!)

2 + (6m+3)7 =

2 + 6m(7) + 3(7) =

2 + 42m + 21 =

42m + 23

The way you've written this problem and your other one seem really odd. Maybe math problems have changed in the 30 decades since I was in grade school, but in my day a problem would not have been written like this. Are you sure you're writing your HW problems down correctly?

First, begin with the parentheses. (6m+3). Add the equivalent number of 6m (for example, if m was 6, 6m would be 36) to 3 (39). Now, multiply by 7 (the seven outside the group of parentheses.
39
x 7
____
273
Now, just add two to the product. 273 + 2=279! (Only if m is six.)

The best way to use my method is memorizing this sentence:

Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
a x u i d u
r p l v d b
e o t i i t
n n . s t .
t e i i
h n o o
e t n n
s
e
s
Use this sentence in chronological order: parentheses first, then exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.
Also, please note that multiplication and division are interchangeable, and that addition and subtraction are interchangeable.

If the directions say "simplify", you'd distribute the 7 times the numbers in parentheses and get 2 + 42m + 21. Then you'd combine the like terms and get 23 + 42m.

follow the order of operations...do multiplication before adding...becomes 2 + (42m + 21) no nee for () with addition so becomes 2 + 42m + 21 which equals 23 + 42 m

first multiply the 7 by each factor inside the brackets
this gives you 2+ 42m + 21
then simplify by combining like terms giving the final answer of
42m + 23
