Both of those ideas are great, not too hard to do, and reusable for festivals, and Renaissance fairs.

Pirate is good. But go with Renaissance.
With the Pirate movie being so popular this year, there will be a lot of them out there.

Pirate if you want to go with an easy but fun costume you can do a lot with. Renaissance lady if you're going for creativity.

I think being a pirate is a GREAT Halloween costume! I might be biased though...because I'm being a pirate. :)

Ooh, a Renaissance lady is a good idea too! I love those old-fashioned velvet dresses they wore.

both sound awesome, my personal preference would be a lady from the renaissance, simply because i know at the halloween stores around my hometown, the pirate costumes were all sold out.

a lady from the Renaissance is much more original

Either is okay, but not terribly original...and H'ween is supposed to be spooky/scary/gross so try to steer away from fancy or sexy costumes...those are cliche' and not in the real spirit of the season (which is to frighten away bad spirits)...

Have fun and be safe!
