Everyone says that sex can help induce labor. Im 38 weeks pregnant and told my husband it could help move things along. He only wants to have anal sex because he don't want to hit the baby in the head. Will this have the same effect?

No, that won't work. If your cervix is 'ripe' vaginal intercourse MAY help bring on labour. If your cervix is not favorable, having sex will not do anything except perhaps give you some cramps.
Anal sex at this point will be VERY uncomfortable, it could cause rectal bleeding and piles. The only one who could benefit from this little adventure would be your husband. It will not bring on labour.

he will never hit the baby "in the head" until the head has passed threw the birth canal. But Anal sex is in a different area then vaginal sex. This will not help induce labor though. The main thing that helps is the sperm irritating the cervix. Good luck.

First of all, he will NOT hit the baby's head so don't let him use that excuse lol. There is no proof that sex moves labor along, although many women swear by it. However, if you do want to try it, be aware that it is the uterine contractions caused by orgasm that would possibly help labor begin. Don't be in too much of a rush though, the baby willl come soon enough. Good luck!

You won't hit the baby in the head. Your cervix is closed and will remain that way until you are in labor. It's impossible for him to hit the head. And no, having anal sex won't have the same effect. He needs to ejaculate in your vagina. The baby won;t come until it's ready though, no matter how much sex you have.

Oh for Christ sake people! There is a cervix between the baby's head and your husbands dick! Remember that from class? He isn't going to hit the baby in the head, he just likes the cornhole.

Probably not. Tell your husband that the baby is inside the uterus and his penis will remain the vagina so the cervix will prevent any head-bumping. There is no way a penis can enter a non-dialated cervix (dialation occurs only during labour).

nasty!
anal sex isn't right and it's not the same thing. secondly normal sex will not hurt the baby or hit the baby in the head.
