Yes he did, and I starred in a VFW film as Sam Wilson as a young man and portrayed him in his wedding at the Family farm in New Hampshire. Never saw the movie, but I did get to make-out with the girl who played the bride all the way back to Troy, NY. This was 42 years ago.
