My daughter is 18 yrs old and apparently, she beat someone up and is sitting in the county jail. I refuse to bail her out and I want her to face a judge and explain to him at 18 yrs old, she has no job and is planning no future. I have not been able to do anything with her. She mocks my attempts to help her get her sh.it together and I am hoping they keep her in jail for a while.
Actually, I would like to talk to the judge and explain he can make her get a job and quit being a loser. Do they ever listen to the parents. She has been my worst nightmare. This is only the beginning of the mess. When she turned 18, my vote does not count, but a judge can make her do things or go to jail.

My 18 yr old daughter moved in with a 25 yr old married man about 4 days after she graduated from high school. I think she may be in trouble for trying to beat him up or something. I am not sure.
2. She is my daughter in spite of the fact she does not live with me, I gave birth to her in 1988. She is my child and as frustrating as it is, I still love her very much. I am just aggrivated at her.

Domestic Battery in Illinois is punishable by 3 to 5 years but if she is a first offender she will most likely get probation, the judge will have a pre-sentence report completed by the probation department and you could make your wishes known to them. In Illinois a person does not have to be related to the person battered they only have to reside in the same residence. If your daughter is not a flight risk and this is a first offense you might be better off to post her bond and give yourself the chance to influence some of her decisions rather than to let her remain in Cook County jail where she will be influenced by some hard core criminals with a long history of committing crimes and engaging in violent behavior.
