There are ways to keep your make-up from disappearing and first and foremost is a perfect base. After moisturising you should always wait at least 20 mins or more before applying your make-up, to allow the skin to absorb it.

Secondly whether the product says "long-wearing" or not, you can keep your makeup looking fresh from dusk 'til dawn by using proper application techniques.
Thirdly after you applied your make-up lightly dust over the face with Loose powder (preferably translucent, which has no pigmentation in it so it matches any skin tone).

During the day you may feel the need to reaaply you make-up but it doesnt really work as you're putting fresh on top of stale.....not a perfect combination. So you could blot any perspiration or oil buildup with non-powdered blotting papers. Or substitute a clean tissue, pressing gently into moist areas.

Or alternatively reapply loose powder only. Pressed powder has the tendency to cake and clump when hit with moisture.

Makeup companies like MAC & Smashbox make a product that you spray on your face after you apply all your makeup and it's helps keep your makeup in place.

As far as foundations are concerned L'oreal do a couple you might be interested in:

"Infallible"
This has a high dry pigment content and evens out the skin tone perfectly. It also has ultra resistant pigments that contribute to form a barrier agains perspiration and sebum (oil produced by the skin) and it provides exceptional foundataion hold for up to 16 hrs. or:

"Matte Cashere"
This is a liquid foundation with a matte finishof fine powder. It leaves the skin velvety soft and even. The finish is very light and stays perfect for about 12hrr with no need to powder.

Hope this helps you.

ok this is a hard one to answer as everyone has their own fave make up and knows what works for them. people have many different skin types and so what suits some people wont others. The best thing you can do is book in to a clinique counter. They have specially trained dermatologists who can assess your skin type and find a product that is right for you. They stock over 500 different types/colours and they WILL find you a match. Tell them what it must have and get a sample that you can try at home. remember lighting is very intense in stores and it can look quite different in the real daylight. a good consultant will give you this. Clinique is by no means the cheapest on the market but they are the best consultants outside of a dermatologist office and their product is long lasting and of high quality. You can also usually get a gift with purchase if you check the various stores recent offers. I hope this helps you.

Well, some foundations make my skin oily and/or red. Since i started using Maybelline pure makeup, it makes my skin NOT red. I swear by it! (and definetly use a moistureizer, it helps the foundation go on nicer, and makes your skin soft).
Next, I would suggest using a foundation sponge. it will make it go on nicer and wont have the dirt an oils from your fingers, so you wont break out.
Last, use a light powder to set your foundation.

Hope this helps!

Never re-apply foundation over the first application. Wash your face first or use a cleansing cloth (Nivea/L'oreal/Dove) to remove all traces of the first application before re-applying anything on your face!!

You can use a primer (my current favorite is by Smashbox) under your foundation and set with powder as usual.

Or select a long-wearing foundation like Revlon Colorstay or L'oreal Infallible and set it with powder. I feel it's best you get a department store brand as the make up artist can recommend the correct formulation for your skin type.

Use blotting papers (MAC) to mop your face instead of tissues during the day.

I use Cover-Girl. Foundation is supposed to look like it disappears because it is used to make your skin look naturally flawless. If you can see it, there is no point in wearing it. Try applinng a light coat of pressed powder a few minutes after you apply the foundation.

it SHOULD look as though it's disappeared! do you mean breakouts or discoloration show through? if so, try a heavier foundation or a concealer. also, you might want to wait until your moisturizer is completely dry before applying any make up.

i mix two clinique foundations together -- skin clarifying and anti-aging, and they cover perfectly together, while they're too sheer by themselves. i would really suggest going to a clinique counter. tell them what the problem is, and they'll show you some of their products and apply them for you so you can see what YOU like best!

i hope all goes well, take care!

Try a primer first, then foundation, then dust on some loose powder. All my favorites are by beauticontrol. My favorite foundation ( I have dry skin too) is their Secret Agent Undercover Makeup. You can find these at www.beautipage.com/

If you want a natural looking, but durable, foundation try Dermablend. It was designed to cover scars and vitiligo, but I have used it for years and love it. It has a setting powder that keeps it from coming off all day! You can find it at most department stores, but I find it easy and convenient to buy it from the Skin Store. They also have a free sample that you can send for and try it out first.

It covers redness wonderfully...fyi.

Good luck!

Foundation is supposed to disappear into your skin. Foundation is used to give your face a base coat and the illusion of almost perfect skin. Stop reapplying it and you'll be fine.

My only recommendation is to do your touch-up with loose translucent powder in the same shade of your foundation. If everything is okay with your liquid foundation, you should only touch it up if it is starting to wear off.

Hope that helps! =)
