I have asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [co pd] when I have an attack of either one I can not breath. I have been in the hospital many times because of this. The only meds that work to get my lungs open is strong amounts of prednisone. I get it intravenously and am on it that way for 3-4 days. When I get out of the hospital I take pills that are 20 mg tablets. I can be on these for about 2-3 weeks or longer. When I go away from my home for a few days I go on prednisone to keep my lungs open so I do not have to go to a hospital that does not have my history. I have not had any problems while I am on prednisone but you have to take it as your doctor tells you and if you have any questions about it ask your doctor. I have been on and off it for 5 years now. I did not eat like crazy and I did not put on any weight at all while using it.

I had to take it after a case of Viral Meningitis with Complex Migraines, and Pneumonia(all @ once). I took it for 7 days, on a decreasing dose( ex.: 5 pills on day one, four pills on day 2....), I didn't have any side effects, except decreased appetite. It did help, with an added bonus, my allergies didn't bother me for a month.

I did for about a month. It made me eat like crazy. Its very bad for you. It can be deadly. Look at what it did to Jerry Lewis. My brother in law almost died recently from 10 yrs of taking it. His skin is severly thin and he had holes in his intestines. This is all from Prednisone. Its a steroid, and its BAD. I will never take it again.
