I live in southern Louisiana, and I see alot of rebel flags (eww!) and there is a place next to the school I used to go to that had KKK rallys (horrible!). Also, my fiance works for a rent to own furniture business. He is an account manager and has to pick up peoples furniture if they fail to pay for it. One of his partners is black, and alot of the white people (in the areas where barely anyone lives) dont let the black guy go in their home!!! But then there is the opposite. He also has to pick up peoples furniture where the black people hate the white people, so my fiance's partner has to do the work at their home!! I can't believe how people can be like that! Alot of them were raised that way, but you don't really see racism around the city areas.. only the areas where there is NOTHING!
Hope this helps! :)

I lived in Mississippi for a long time, racism is really not that bad down there, you'll find it just as much as you do up north. As a matter of fact, my first day in Gulfport, I went to a Mcdonald's and there was a black guy, chinese guy, and white guy all sitting down together having lunch. I thought 'wow..I've never seen that up north' Yes, racism still occurs down there, but it does everywhere else too.

Racism is everywhere. It is not as prevalent as it used to be, but it is still there. Yes, there are hate crimes against people. I don't know if there are more now or if they have recently just started calling them hate crimes. "Hate Crimes" did not used to be a separate crime. If there was violence against someone it was just called assault, murder, etc. Now they have hate crimes in the statutes and so we hear the term more.

well I live in Georgia and I havent experienced any racist situation. I guess there must be, but still I see a lot of biracial families all the time. And its not a big deal. Besides I go to a college where im guessing almost 85% of the students are african american and I am white and hispanic. Ive never felt discriminated or anything, i have a lot of friends.

YES . I flew the battle flag and a black burned my home .. In N.C. a lady and her child witnessed the murder of her husband for flying the flag of the south. there are FIVE>>>> FIVE times more kkkk members up north. In my entire life and god is my witness I have never not once heard any family member back to my grandparents aunts uncles . never have a word at all to say against blacks. I painted for free and intire black church property, the open heart babtist church in greenville s.c. for no other reason that I felt like it. it took months.call the rev leuwers if you dont belive me. my people have allways been kind to black people. I will have you know.and people get along very well in Greenville S.C. so lets not start all that up again.

When I lived in Clover, South Carolina there wasn't. And that was (OMGoodness!) almost twenty years ago.
Actually, there were two girls who were really good friends at my school; one was white, and the other was black. Now here's the ironic part: The white girl's ancestors had owned the black girl's ancestors as slaves.
I had never heard the n-word, actually, until I moved to WA State. It was just not allowed in Clover.

I grew up in the south and racism wasn't very prevalent there. Racists come from all over - you make it sound like all southern states are racist. Bigoted much?
