I think it would be nice for everyone to curb it back a little bit - like just have 1 or two max - but then again, that goes against many many people's cultural and spiritual beliefs (although I personally think think these beliefs should be put on a back burner for what is socailly responsible!)
If people wanted more kids than this, there is now and will always be unwanted kids to adopt. I work for a catholic family of thirteen...and eleven are adopted!
However, women's chioce to have children shoudn't be seen as conflicting with the women's movement. I am a mom and a feminist, and my mother is a mom and a feminist. The world is changing, and feminism is, too. We teach our children that they can achieve in whatever realm they choose, be it professional, political, social, or parental, and that the most important thing is to fight for equality and the irratification of gender bias...in or out of the home.

I love my child and am pregnant with my second. Believe or not I am happy. I didn't get pregnant either time because I was bored or had no ambitions. I wanted a family.
What does WWII have to do with anything? Believe it or not women got pregnant before then too.
I think that if you are not ready to have children or don't want them at all that's great for you. People have the right to make their own choices and you shouldn't fault others for making different decisions than you would.

I don't think it would be nice at all if no babies were born for the next 10 years. First, my children are beginning to have babies of their own and I am delighted to be a grandma. Second, my business is running a licensed home daycare. I love my job and would be terribly sad not to have little ones around me. Third, there is absolutely no way you can stop having babies unless you stop having sex. Some women have tried the "women's movement" and haven't found fulfillment there, but have found it in motherhood. I have 4 children. My husband and I have put our heart and soul into caring for them, loving them, putting 3 of them through college (the youngest is only 9), and we couldn't imagine our lives without them. There is nothing wrong with my ambition. Being a wife, mom, grandma, and daycare provider have kept me busy, productive, and happy.

Kids? Don't want 'em, myself. Other people may go that route, but not me. Because of my strong feelings on this, I wouldn't remotely consider having a relationship with anyone who wants kids. But then again, there are people who want them, and that's their right, regardless of how I personally feel about it.
Check into the childfree movement. There are plenty of childfree websites and organizations like "No Kidding" for people who decide not to have children. And "childfree" is a different thing than "childless". Childless implies that you might still be trying to have children, or might want them at some future date. Childfree usually means that you've made a conscious decision to live a child-free lifestyle.

Well you have the choice not to have children, just like others do. Being pregnant has been the best experience I have ever been through. As long as people can support their children then they should have the choice to have more. Those that can't should stop, but who can make them.

I'm definitely not interested in having children. I agree that there are too many kids out there already. I'm having a very happy life so far without children. And I've got slightly more intriguing things to do with my time than changing diapers. If someone really wants to have kids rather than adopt, I guess that's their buisness, but it's just not for me.

OK!! Well then don't get pregnant. As for me I have a daughter and wouldnt trade it for the world. She brings me so much joy and a reason for living everyday. I am 23 and currently on my second child and plan to have about 2-3 more. My ambition is to be a great mother and love my children and do everything that I can for them. If you don't like children then you shouldn't have them. But otherwise mind your own business.

Yes!!! I agree. My husband and I don't want any kids. They are expensive, require ALOT of your time, I wouldn't have a babysitter, the world is to evil to have kids, etc. We like to get up when we want, go to bed when we want, go on trips when we want, spend our money on anything that we want, etc. There is no time in our life for kids. I wish more people felt this way. But of course America has brainwashed everyone into thinking that you must get married and have kids. So that is what everyone does.

I think some people are meant to be parents, and other people, not so much. It takes a certain temperment and energy level to do it. For many people, parenthood is a pretty fulfilling endeavor, and more power to them that choose that road.
