What are some drugs that increase mental capacity, creativity, spatial thinking, memory, information rentention/absorption, writing skills, ability to score well on tests, etc, even if temporary? I've heard that meth works for a while. I am NOT going to try any of these, I'm just curious about what drugs and seeing connections with where they affect the brain.

Or drugs that temporarily increase one's attention span, focus, concentration. Things that help one study/cram and remember the information long enough to take a test (a large quantity of info remembered for 48 hours or something).

You'll want to research into a class of drugs called nootropics. These are pharmaceuticals--not street drugs--originally designed for helping people with mental impairments like Alzheimers or ADD, but with the nice effect of also boosting normal peoples' brains.

For the most part, nootropics differ from street drugs in a number of ways. First, most of them are completely non-addictive (physically and psychologically), and many also do not have much in the way of negative side-effects. Second, unlike street drugs which take effect a few seconds or minutes after you take them, nootropics work gradually; most people notice improvements anywhere from a few days to a month after starting on nootropics. Also, one nice benefit of nootropics is that a lot of them are synergistic, meaning they work even better when you take them together.

One of the most common nootropics is the *racetam group of drugs: piracetam, aniracetam, oxyracetam, etc. Piracetam is the original form, and the cheapest. The others are more potent, albeit also more expensive forms. Another common nootropic is hydergine, which works very nicely with piracetam. Piracetam is available in the US by mail order without a prescription; hydergine you'll either need a doc's Rx for, or order it from overseas.

Most nootropics work through a number of mechanisms, including improving brain metabolism, increasing blood flow to the brain, increasing oxygen supply to the brain, cleaning up various toxins that accumulate in the brain, enhancing neurotransmitter production & uptake, etc.

Different nootropics will do different things for you. Some increase mental focus, some will improve your memory (one, called Vasopressin, is designed just for short-term memory), some (piracetam & hydergine) will increase the depth of your thinking, or just make you think more clearly. Once they've had a chance to take effect, the difference in your thinking before & after is similar to the difference in your thinking when you first get up in the morning, vs. after you've fully awakened. Nootropics WON'T turn you into an Einstein, but you'll almost certainly notice an improvement in your thought processes.

If you're really interested in starting on a nootropic regimen, I'd advise you to do some research. Find out what you're looking for as far as desired effects, what nootropics do what and in what dosages, and then of course the cheapest yet reliable source to get them from. The research isn't always easy, seeing as how there's a lot of marketing and personal anecdotes to filter thru. But if you're looking for a brain boost that won't leave you a vegetable after years of use, nootropics is the way to go.

Oh, and stay the F--- away from street drugs like meth. They will only scramble your brain.

As far as I am aware there is no scientific evidence that any drugs increase mental capacity.

Excersise; you said it... the brain uses physical space to store and resource information like names among everything else. So oxigenate it with physical excercise, areobic in particular, and it will make new pathways for utilizing info there already and new space for storage.

if you willing to do it, you need a partner, cause at some point with drugs and spirituality will lead to madness.
