It all depends on shop labor cost and book time needed. The part should have not cost more than 140.00 according to AZ.com. I think that alternator is right on top so it should have been less than 1.5 hours labor. But if a shop is charging 80.00 per hour, even that can get costly. I would have to know which engine and all to be exact, but if you got it done for less than 300.00 that wasn't a great deal but they probably didn't completely take you to the cleaners.

Most garages use a labor guideline to determine how long it take to replace a part and then they multiply that by their hourly rate. There is a monthly fee that such guides( Such as ALLDATA), charge the garages for this service, and so this question you have is not available online. Try calling a local AutoZone, maybe they have this service available for you.
sorry and good luck
PS... My guess would be about 1 hour for an alternator replacement.

It is usually around $100 dollars for the alternator and another 100 to 200 for labour depending on the mechanic!! If you just got it replaced go back to the person you got it from they usually have warranty on them! Good luck!!!

depends where you are; anyway, it should not cost more than the price of the alternator added to an hours labor cost.

This can range anywhere from $400 to $1000 depending on what's involved to get it out. I know this sounds like a lot, but remember that if you broke it, you've bought it. If the mechanic breaks it putting it in, he or she has to guarantee it.
