How do I beat my friend in Smash Bros Melee (n64)?

He is pikachu and all he does is throw and lightning and it whoops me everytime. Is there a way to beat this? Let me know thanks!

the best character (in my opinion) is Fox. Just shoot Pikachu with your blaster (B) and use reflect to stop the lightning (downB). Fox has a good recovery move although it takes a while to execute.

just jump over the lightning. If he does it in the air, just block it.
