She was diagnosed with cancer.

She has anal cancer, a fast spreading cancer, that has spread to her lower intestines. The disease seems fairly advanced (see source below), but she's determined to fight it and that's a great advantage for her. My best wishes to her.

It doesn't sound good. Surgery alone is usually the treatment for colon cancer. She is also getting radiation and chemo.
