powers work like this: 3 to the 4th power (written as 3^4) is the same as 3 times 3 times 3 times 3, or in other words, 3 times itself 4 times.
28 + (97 - 3^4) - 5 * 7 = 28 + (97 - 81) - 35
= 44 - 35
= 9
5^3 - 84 / 12 - 6 * 3
(remember to do multiplication and division before any addition or subtraction unless accompanied by parentheses.)
= 5^3 - 7 - 18
= 125 - 25
= 100
67 + 6^2 * 6 / (2+1) = 67 + 36 * 6 / 3
= 67 + 216 / 3
= 67 + 72
= 139

28 + (97-81) -5x7= 28+16 -35 = 44-35= 9
125-7-18= 125-25= 100
67+36(6)/3= 67+72= 139

3 to the 4th power means 3X3X3X3 which is 81.
Then 97 - 81 is 16. Then you must do multiplication: 5x7 = 35
Finally 28 + 16 - 35 is 9

In general, if exponents give you trouble, write the bloody things out.
28 + (97 - (3*3*3*3)) - 5*7
(5*5*5) - 84/12 - 6*3
67 + (6*6)*6/(2+1)
You know how to multiply, so you should be able to do these problems just fine. :-)
If you grind through the math, the answers are 9, 100, and 139, as shown by the first responder.
