I mean really, we live in a society wanting a quick fix and instant gratification instead of LEARNING.

HTML/XHTML are so easy to learn, I just wonder why so many just want an easy-out solution.

In a country where someone who can't put together a coherent sentance (nor pronounce most words) is elected president because people are put off by the education of his opponent, does it surprise you that people would rather not learn?

Programming is about productivity vs. content. Many of the programs out there can do the work for you in a fraction of the time and much better than a beginner can. This has opened up the door for people who would never have touched html to work with it. For serious developers, not knowing HTML/XHTML is rarely an option. CSS in particular is essintial for really crafty site, however, most people just are happy with simple web-sites. Which leads to the old saying... Keep it simple. If a program does the work for you, then you have time to work on something else... like content, which so many people neglect. :)

I believe it's all due to intimidation. You become overwhelemed by the texts and symbols and beilieve it's over your had when in actuality it's not.

I had read books on HTML but it wasn't until I took the course on dreamweaver and HTML that I got over my fear. It seemed so crazy in the begining, now when I do my pages I find it much more fun to load it in codes then check out the design view.
