a surgical procedure that will make an incision in your right lower quadrant to remove your inflamed/ruptured appendix. it's common to have an appendectomy, losing your appendix won't affect anything.

It is removal of the appendix. Usually in medicine, anything ending with "ectomy" is the surgical removal of something. Such as:
tonsillectomy: removal of the tonsils
hysterectomy: removal of uterus and ovaries
