I try to sleep for as little time as possible, but without the aid of an alarm clock, I sleep for 12 hours!!!! I hate this cos this is half a day gone!! (usually from 12:00 till 12:00)
Since uni holidays are over, I NEED to get up earlier!

Have tried going sleep earlier but I just toss n turn till about 12:00.
If I use an alarm clock, I feel REALLY tired and dizzy ALL day! Asked the doctor to check my blood etc, he's says I'm as fit as a fiddle.
I also enjoy my time everynight with my woman (u know wot I mean) do you think this is why I need to sleep so much?

And what the hell is REM (rapid eye movement)!!! I jst wanna get to sleep!!! Ideally about 22:00 and be awake for about 06:00!!

HELP!!!!

According to my gf, you shouldn't sleep over 9 hours a night. A person who sleeps over 9 hours and gets less than 6 hours (which is average), is likely to have a stroke at a young age. Try to sleep between 6-9 hours every night.

Drink hot milk or ginger tea to help you go to sleep. My gf drinks ginger tea when she can't sleep and it works for her. Also try mint tea if you don't like ginger. I believe in general men do feel very tired after sex which is normal.

Try to go to sleep early, drink tea or milk before bed as I said before, and see how you feel and how long you are asleep without using an alarm clock. Your body should adjust and you'll be able to get your rest and wake up when you have to.

My gf doesn't recommend using an alarm clock. Our bodies automatically know when it's time for bed and time to get up. Alarm clocks just ALARM you and that's not good on your heart. To answer your other question, REM happens when you are fast asleep and you are dreaming basically.

I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Some people just need more sleep than others. I can survive on 2 hours a night, but ideally I like 6. My mate Rich usually has 10 hours but likes 12 on his day off.

At least 8 hours a day.

Try not to drink as much caffeine before bed. Or go on the computer. Wait at least 30 minutes before turning in.

The computer's lights send out lightsignals to tell your brain to stay up. Like the sun's rays.

I turn in around 11 usually. And I wake up around 6.
That's about 7 hours.

Try going to bed earlier and then you will be able to wake up earlier. You body gets so tired because you stay up late so you need to reset your internal clock so you can function on 8 or 9 hours of sleep.

Sleep preferences vary from person to person.....you may have to alter your times once aweek to see how you feel after waking....I usually get by with 4 to 5 hours of sleep...if I sleep more than 6 hrs....I feel the groggy dizzy stuff allday......and I don't feel like doing anything.

I know how you feel....if I don't set my alarm to get me up, I can sleep waay past noon. The amount of sleep that is healthy to get is about 9 hours. I don't know why your alarm makes you feel like it does, but hopefully your body gets used to it soon. Sweet dreams!
